1. Can you give me a price quote over the phone or by e-mail?

Because of our discounted pricing structure, our manufacturers request that we do not give price quotes over the phone or via e-mail. This helps the manufacturer keep distribution conflicts from arising with their large regular retail stores. Most large traditional retailers have higher overheads than we do, so they typically charge higher prices.

2. Do I need to pay up-front?

We require a deposit upon placing your order. The balance is due when the furniture arrives at our warehouse. We ask that you promptly pick-up your furniture or arrange for delivery as soon as possible after we notify you that your order has arrived. We don’t have a large holding area so we can keep the overhead down and keep prices low!

3. Do you give a discount to designers?

We do have a special designer bonus discount program. Please visit our store for more details. To qualify for the program, please bring in your business card or letterhead, your business license, your state resale license plus any identifying letter and/or membership card from any professional design industry organization.

4. Do you have a printed catalog that you can mail?

Our product offering is continually growing and changing as we add new suppliers and as manufacturers add and drop styles, fabrics and/or finishes. To keep our overhead low, which allows us to keep prices low, we do not print a catalog of our own to mail out to consumers. In each of our warehouse showrooms, we have product books from numerous manufacturers. By viewing the complete selection offered by each of our manufacturers, you may choose from many more items than you could find in a typical retail furniture store.

6. How long will it take for my furniture to arrive? Is there a shipping cost I have to pay? Is home delivery available?

We work with over numerous manufacturers and they all have different lead times. It can vary from 4-6 weeks on some and up to 6 months on others, depending upon what you order. Once you place your order with us and we order it from the factory, we have no control over the length of time for manufacturing and trucking, so we can only estimate and let you know what the factory tells us.

Our price includes delivery from the factory to our warehouse. Because our goal is to keep prices low and save you money, we work to keep our overhead low. We don’t have lots of delivery trucks, drivers or warehouse people, so we can sell for less than the big stores. If you have a truck or can borrow one, you can pick it up yourself or we can refer you to a professional furniture delivery service for you to work with directly.

7. I heard about you from a friend, and I am interested in coming to see you. Tell me more about your store.

Newport Furnishings® is a warehouse showroom. We have furniture in our showroom that is available for purchase but most of our customers select their custom furnishings from our numerous resource books, fabric and finish samples that we have available in our ‘extended showroom’ to reflect their own personal style.

Are you familiar with Williams Sonoma Home®, Crate & Barrel®, Restoration Hardware®, Pottery Barn® or Room&Board®? We carry similar styles of furniture – usually for a lot less money. Because we are working out of a warehouse showroom instead an expensive retail store in the ritzy part of town or a fancy mall location we have lower overhead than your typical furniture retailer, which allows us to pass the savings on to you!

8. Is there anything I need to do before coming in to visit you?

Here are a few suggestions that will help make your visit to Newport Furnishings® more successful.

If you have any pictures of furniture that you have seen that you like or want, please bring them along. Also if you are trying to match or coordinate with existing colors such as floors, windows, wall coverings or other furniture you already have, please bring samples of those with you. If you are shopping for furniture for a specific room, it helps to take measurements in advance and bring the dimensions with you.

We do have a certified interior designer on staff should you be interested in working with a professional. Most of our team members are not certified interior designers, but they are an extremely experienced, talented and creative staff who can help you with suggestions and assist you in creating the home of your dreams!

9. What brands do you carry?

Newport Furnishings® can access many different manufacturers. Are you looking for something specific? It’s best to come visit our warehouse showroom and see what we have.

What we look for from our suppliers and what consumers most care about are style, quality and value. We work with a large amount of manufacturers, who make very similar furniture styles to many of the “name brands.” By working with so many manufacturers we are able to offer a much greater selection of styles than the “branded” stores (Thomasville, Bassett, La-Z-Boy who only offer what their factory makes.) There are a few furniture brands that consumers may have heard of, however in our experience there are not any dominant manufacturers in the furniture industry that everyone asks for.

In many instances, the smaller, lesser-known or even unknown manufacturers we typically work with make very similar furniture styles to some of the name brands, usually for a lot less and in many instances better quality. You may have heard of Bassett®, La-Z-boy®, or Broyhill®, but these are promotional (lower price/quality) manufacturers at best.

Most of our manufacturers ask us not to use their names, so our discounting doesn’t disturb their normal retail distribution to the big stores that have to charge full price for their furniture. Because we keep overhead lower than the big stores, we regularly beat their prices. If you go into Crate&Barrel®, Pottery Barn®, Restoration Hardware®, Room&Board®, or Williams Sonoma Home®, they are not promoting the name of the brand or manufacturer

10. When are you open? When can I come in?

At Newport Furnishings®, we highly recommend that customers visit our warehouse showroom on an appointment basis. The appointment, much like a dinner reservation, enables us to give everyone their desired level of service and not have too many people in the showroom at once, which might not allow us to help everyone!

We mainly run the business with small staffs in a warehouse showroom environment to keep the overhead low which allows us to pass the savings on to our customers. Just because it’s by appointment doesn’t mean it is high pressure. You are free to look around as long as you want and come back as many times as you need. Many of our customers have complimented us on the relaxed environment we have created. They say that going to a "regular" retail furniture store is much like going to a car dealer – usually a dreaded, unpleasant experience.
